Fumio Motoyama (guitar), Toru Iioka (bass, Sampler) and Masato Saito (drums) formed the instrumental band qodibop in 1998 in Sapporo. Their performance style is based on live sounds from musical instruments (guitar, bass and drums) and they infuse electronic elements into their minimalistic live sounds. The band infuses inspiration from each member’s various musical tastes, from techno to folk music, electronica to jazz, resulting in a unique sound.

In 2004, they performed at ‘SONAR SOUND TOKYO’ and released their debut CD “another tone form” via ‘third-ear’. After a nationwide tour in 2006, they formed their own label called ‘yuritona’ and released a series of EPs “sketch ep vol.1″, “sketch ep vol.2″, and “sketch ep vol.3″. They participated in a compilation album “emergence” which was released through “synapse”, a label founded in Sapporo. They released a split album “on to tone triangle” with Olololop in 2004 and toured all over Japan and Hokkaido. qodibop is set to release their 2nd album ‘become color” via synapse in April, 2012.

1998 年に札幌で結成。本山(ギター)、飯岡(ベース、サンプラー)、斉藤(ドラム)によるトリオ編成のインストバンド。
ギター、ベース、ドラムの生楽器の演奏を軸に、サンプラーやシンセなどを取り込むスタイルでライブを行っている。
エレクトロニカ、テクノ、ロック、フォーク、ジャズ等、メンバー３人の異なる趣向の音楽性を基に作られる楽曲は、緻密に構成されたトラックに、リズムの強調されたミニマルな生楽器の演奏が重なり、個々の音が際立つサウンドを追求している。2004年、「SONAR SOUND TOKYO」に出演し、翌年ファーストCD「another tone form」( third-ear）を発売。2006年2月の全国ツアー後、活動を一時休止。2007年より活動再開し、自主レーベル「yuritona」を立ち上げ、現在までに、4曲入りCD-R「sketch ep vol.1」「sketch ep vol.2」「sketch ep vol.3」を自主リリース。
札幌発のレーベル、synapseのコンピレーションアルバム「emargence」に参加。2010年、OlololopとのスプリットCD「 on to tone triangle」の発売を皮切りに全国、道内ツアーを敢行。
2012年4月、ファーストアルバム「another tone form」から７年振りに、セカンドCD「become color」(synapse) を発売。
